w/o McKenna, the rebuilding will take a long time

Frank McKenna is the bandaid, the quick fix. As Liberal leader, McKenna would be very quick to heal the wounds caused by the 16 year war within the Liberal Party. McKenna is about to announce according to CTV that he will NOT seek the leadership. Without McKenna, rebuilding the Liberal party will take a long time. So get used to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, because I doubt someone is going to want a Prime Minister Belinda, Prime Minister Brison or Prime Minister Tobin anytime soon.

Mind you, if Brison became PM, Queer Eye for the Straight guy would be good decorators for 24 Sussex!

EH101 saga comes full circle

This is nonsense. Muldoon ordered these things back in the 80’s to replace the Sea Kings. Chretien cancelled it. Then ordered some for search and rescue. Meanwhile Sea Kings are falling out of the sky like Rita Mcneil on a diving board. Chretien chooses a different company to replace the Sea Kings that should have been replaced in the early 1990’s, now the makers of the EH101 are suing because the Liberals interfered in the selection process. Did I mention that these Sea Kings were about 5 years overdue when the order was placed in the early 1990’s? How about if Chretien had left the order stand, that the last of the EH101’s would have been delivered about eight years ago?

Tim Murphy, chief of staff for PM PM admits he is the reason why the Liberals lost… but he is still chief of staff… still in a position of power in the Liberal party… talk about falling on your sword for your party!

Next Liberal leader should be a woman - McLellan

Nope. Sorry Landslide Annie. The next leader of the Liberal Party of Canada should be… qualified!

Honestly it makes no difference wither the Liberals are led by a woman or a man. To say that it SHOULD be run by a women smacks in the face of woman’s rights. If there is a woman who runs for the leadership, she should be put to task like any male candidate. If she is more qualified than any other candidate, give her the job. If a man is more qualified, give him the job.

Here is a thought. Put down for each candidate a list of all general qualifications they have. Nothing to specifically identify who they are. Then put next to it, what their vision of the party is. Identify each person as a Candidate (Candidate A, B, C and so on). Give each member of the Liberal Party a ballot in which their first, second and third choices can be placed. Count the ballots, and then announce after saying Candidate X has won, who their leader is.

True equality Landslide, not forced. Try it out!

Yawn… Layton yippin’ & yappin’

Snore…

I was joking with a friend of mine online, he noted that behind Layton there were women of every visable minority in Canada, but not one white male. He asked where all the WASPs were?

Behind Stephen Harper I quipped back.

Layton did move down a notch on the class meter. After winning his best showing in the House, and congratulating Martin, and even Duceppe… he starts ragging on Harper.

I am no fan of Harper but for fucks sake Layton, the election is over, let the rhetoric end for a day. Go bang your wife or something.

Martin gone

I called it. Although I thought that the chances of Martin leaving the leadership of the Liberals would go up if the margin between the Conservatives and the Liberals was larger, he is gone.

And in doing this, he steals the thunder from Harper’s minority, a final F-U to Harper. Are Canadians going to be focusing on Harper, or the Liberal leadership race?

Touché Martin.

Results are in…

I hear nothing. Souls huddled around their computers, waiting until 10pm. Nothing. No election results. Nothing. Damn… can’t tune in using a conventional radio… stupid interference. Wife watching a movie, can’t disturb… Too chilly to go out to the car to listen to the radio… Neighbours will think I am nuts…

Prohibited Blogging - The Duct Tape Act

As posted on Friday on the CBC Canada Votes site, no one can blog election results until the polls close in BC and the Yukon at 10:00PM EST. This is crap, but its the law. Mind you this is for in Canada, as we already know with publication bans (Gomery) that the ban hits a grey area when postings occur outside of Canada. So sites with forums like Fark will probably get some results before hand. How would these be prosecuted? Again using Gomery as the example, SFA could be done. This time around?

Election Predictions

The last of the polls are out. No more of that drivel for the next while hopefully. That said, Andrew Coyne has put out a call for predictions for monday. I have a few.

Nationally:

Conservatives: 141
Liberals: 60
Bloc: 57
NDP: 49
Independent: 1

I don’t see a Conservative Majority, although it could happen. I hope not.

Individual Predictions:

André Arthur will win Portneuf-Jacques-Cartier because Quebecers want him off the air-waves.

The Conservatives will win more seats in Ontario than the Liberals, but the NDP will fare well there too. Olivia Chow will win her seat, the Conservatives will break into 905 while the NDP will do well in 416 and Hamilton.

The Bloc will get more seats than the Liberals in Quebec, the Conservatives will get three seats in Quebec.

Martin will win LaSalle-Emard, but you will not see Paul Martin occupy Stornoway. The chances of Martin quitting go up for every seat the Conservatives get.

Locally (Eastern Ontario):

Ottawa-West Nepean - John Baird(Conservative) will get in

Ottawa Centre - Paul Dewar(NDP)

Ottawa South - Allan Cutler(Conservative)

Leeds-Grenville - Bob Eaton (Liberals) - This one I am glad to see, as anyone but Gord Brown is good for that riding.

As for my own riding, not going to call it.
