So Pat Quinn is being congratulated on his fine performance at the 2006 Olympics. In one week, he took $100,000,000 of NHL talent and turned them into the Toronto Maple Leafs. Attaboy Pat!

*Not my joke, heard it on the Team 1200’s TGOR email segment.

This genius, who near my work today, in Plus 8 (celcius) weather, is on the ice, Ice-Fishing.

I have no problem with Ice fishing… but this clown is 15 feet from the St. Lawrence, which is running about 10-15 knots current, and until last week there was no ice there.

Its a sunny, warm day. Plus 8… perhaps I will ice fish… on thin ice…

DUMBASS!

Yes. Yes it was a dumb idea. Selling seven logistical helicopters that
were in great shape, while cancelling the plan to replace the Sea
Kings. Yup. Dumb is one word that can be used…

Bloggers and Newsies being more careful

In light of Kinsella’s lawsuit, I have noticed some bloggers are being just a little more cautious with what they type. Even newsies like Bourque are being careful. Today he had a link to a story about John Reynolds called “EX CON. MP REYNOLDS SAYS NO LOBBYIST” which was changed to “EX TORY MP REYNOLDS SAYS NO LOBBYIST”.

This is good, because being responsible sometimes is a good thing. I note that some who are supporting the defendant in Kinsella’s suit are still blogging without a quick edit, good luck to them.

Kinsella sues a blogger - tsk tsk

Bloggers are now turning on one of their own. I am talking not of Warren Kinsella suing Mark Bourrie for $600,000, but of other bloggers touting free speech and slamming Kinsella.

When I blog about things, it is attacking issues or people’s ideas and policies. When I do so, I point out in my own way why I agree or disagree with what is done, offer my own idea or thought, or point to someone else’s idea that I agree with.

Bloggers for the most part think the same way as I do (or I’d like to believe they do) and respect things such as FACTS. I have a journalism background and know you don’t make statements you cannot back up, in any print form. If I go out and call someone a bold faced liar, I will have something to back that up. Why? Because it is what you are suppose to do!

I consider writing a blog the same as writing an op-ed piece for a newspaper, you need facts, you need to check those facts and you need to not be stupid when doing this. Flying off the handle at people because you feel like it may be fine for you, but do it on the phone to that person, don’t put it in print. I read the comments on your site and to me, it paints Mr. Kinsella in a bad light. Your mistake, step up and apologise. Make it right.

So for all of those out there who are building a legal defense fund for Mr. Bourrie, I think you should instead be building a settlement fund. And to Mr. Bourrie, I honestly think you have cheapened yourself by putting your child’s statement up there. A cheap ploy at sympathy. To back that up, I will state the following. I mention my kids rarely on the internet because my family life is private and kids should not be involved on the net more than just doing research for a school project. I have taxed my household when I have made mistakes in judgment, however a real father would not drag their children into it. Children are innocent and should not be worrying about grown up issue. Shame on you!

Well now that I am here, yes… yes I do support it. What a maroon! I now have more respect for Belinda’s defection last year than Emerson’s. Moron!

Western Standard to reprint Cartoons - Possibly charged with Hate Crime???

I applaud the Western Standard for having the courage to print these cartoons, even though they are offensive to Muslims. What this boils down to in my opinion is this:

  • The initial outrage of these cartoons has been hijacked by extremists who have used this as yet another excuse to say “down with the west”. Look no further to what has come out of Iran, starting a contest for cartoons about the Holocaust. Considering Denmark is a Christian nation, why are the extremists targeting Israel? Something doesn’t make sense here.
  • While personally I think the cartoons are offensive and in poor taste, how is this any different than those who made cartoons of the Pope? Of those who mock Christian religious symbols, who lump all priests in with the select few who have been charged as Pedophiles?

Our nature and rights to free expression have allowed people to make pictures of the Virgin Mary out of cow shit and then fling our own blood at the picture (Some gallery in NYC in 1999 actually allowed this). As a Christian, yes I am offended by it. But just as they have the right to do that, I have the right to call them idiots and morons.

Problem is that these protesters are saying that we don’t have the right to lampoon Islam and yet they do it to our religions and while carrying on marches and such against freedom of speech and freedom of press, exercise that in which they protest against.

Its ironic how all three religions say they are the religion of peace, and yet we fight and kill in its name. Never mind the fact that Christianity, Judaism and Islam all have their roots in the Old Testament in one way or another.

Manitoba MP named minister for Northern Ontario…

I have much respect for Steven Fletcher, so this rant is not attacking him personally or even professionally.

That said, why is an MP from Manitoba being named to represent Northern Ontario? I have no doubt that Mr. Fletcher will do his job well, but honestly why is this happening? Just as there were others capable of representing the Montreal and Vancouver regions, surely someone from Ontario would be appropriate for a Ministry that is for Northern ONTARIO?

I smell the stench of Baie Comeau coming from Ottawa. Why might that be?

Tax Dollars at work. Exposing our children to waxing balls

As some know, I am the father of three kids. I normally don’t mention the kids on here because well… their kids and don’t need to be exposed to anything on the web except going on the Bob the Builder or Dora the Explorer web sites.

However I will mention this. My children watch TV. They watch the CBC. After school and in the morning. At 5:30pm, CBC has a program meant more for Teens but is still viewable during primetime (for kids) called Nerve. Nerve covers topics really relevent to teens like having their Balls Waxed!

Yes… Balls Waxed. Tax dollars… funding the CBC… so kids can see a teen get their balls waxed…

To quote the Liberals: “we’re not making this up!” Considering we have had 12 years of Liberals running things in Ottawa, I am not very surprised about this. However it does not mean I agree with this.

So what to do? Email the CBC Ombudsman complaining about this show. It is inappropriate for it to be shown in a timeslot where little children will see it.

Emerson’s secret plan

David Emerson - “I’m going to be Stephen Harper’s worst enemy”

Um… try worst liability!

Perhaps that is his plan. Jump ship from the Liberals to go Conservative and if Harper takes the bait, then he has a liability!

This guy has to be Prime Minister at some point! That plan is sheer genius!
