A pretender slain

Yet another Canadian pretender to the throne of “New Media Link King” has been slain. Actually he up and quit because of work commitments, but then again if it was a passion, he would have kept it up.

NealeNews is no more. Wednesday was the announcement, Thursday nothing but whitespace on the site. I used to go on to Brian Neale’s site for a while as there was the odd story of interest to me that perhaps didn’t make the cut with Pierre Bourque’s Bourque Newswatch.

Lately though the news wasn’t getting updated often on NealeNews. I commend Brian Neale for pulling the plug as he did as too often people leave up neglected and down-right useless sites. Forgotten by changing habits and other factors. Just as a good music group should call it quits when they stop being able to create something new, Brian Neale called it quits when he just didnt have time.

So yet another pretender is slain.

Ontario Government’s sad view of Autism

Here is the real piss-off thing about the Ontario Government and its view on Autism funding. McNutty and Co. can fund items in the health care system such as getting your tubes tied or having a vasectomy. They can fund items like gender modification for people in the prison system who aren’t what they came equipped with. They can even fund things like a telephone advice system that takes 30 minutes of asking questions to tell you to go to the hospital or see your doctor.

But they cannot fund assistance for children over the age of six who suffer from Autism. This is sad. Actually its a disgrace.

As it says in the story linked above, a mother and her child who is afflicted with Autism went to a public picnic for our local MPP to put the issue out there. Now I’ve met Jim Brownell before and he is a nice guy, and I have respect for him. But this sounded like a brush off to me. I would invite Mr. Brownell to instead of waiting for Ms. Jolicoeur to go to him with her issues, to go to the local Tim Hortons, grab some coffees and head over to her house. Sit there and hear her concerns. Then… Go to Queens Park and do your job.

If the government can fund birth control and sex-changes for prisoners… Surely kids who never did anything to get this affliction should get the same or better consideration from our government!

Note: This is posting #100 on this blog since I switched to Blogger. I have held off on writing anything until I found something worthwhile to write about. This was it.

Jacques Villeneuve in Nascar?

Was reading on a news site that Jacques Villeneuve is possibly going to Nascar since he has been turfed from the BMW team. Two Nascar drivers Greg Biffle and Adrian Fernandez said that they would have a difficult adjustment to Nascar driving. Ya. Its really hard to give up the urge to make a right hand turn!

I like Nascar, know someone who is running in one of the Busch League and Cascar series but come on. You are talking about a driver who is used to going around a track in half a car, and most of the tracks are road courses. Nascar has no road courses and always goes counter-clockwise around in an oval.

Yes I am sure there will be some adjustment and yes, Villeneuve may even fall flat on his face. But I don’t think it will be because of the Left Turns guys.

And one other note, as I spell checked this, Blogger/Google wanted to replace “NASCAR” with “mascara”. Hmm subliminal message maybe?

CN + PETA = Moron

CN derails trains, contaminates water and has employees die in unsafe equipment and nary a peep. CN uses Beta Fish as tabletop decoration for an appetizer, and PETA gets up in arms over it.

Call me naive, but shouldn’t people be upset that CN knocks more trains off the tracks than my 3 year old? CN has had two people die based on the stupidity of not looking after their equipment and then assign a fubared engine with minimal to no brakes to a mountain line. (Note to CN, trains need brakes to stop.)

Is something wrong here? What the fuck is wrong with the management of CN? Time to pull Hunter’s head out of his ass.

Divide Iraq, why not?

The outgoing British Ambassador to Iraq has noted that Iraq will likely go into civil war and then be divided.

Why not just divide it now. Separate Iraq now. The Shi’a and Sunni’s don’t get along. The Kurds want their own country. SO stop the fighting. Each group gets their own country, the US signs an Oil pact to get their oil. And then the fighting should stop. Remove the reason to fight, or at least the “public” reason for the fighting and two things will happen. Either it will stop… or the real reason will be come apparent.

My township is stupid!

My township is stupid. Literally. They rip up a sidewalk on one of the busiest streets in town and put grass over it. Most of the kids who walk to school from our section of town go on this street to school. So now those same kids have to walk on the street to get to school, and in the winter time, our township doesn’t plow the streets so well either. So the township is now forcing kids to walk on Icy Streets in the middle of winter. I can see a lot of parents starting to drive their kids to school.

Meanwhile the township also has rebuilt a brand new sidewalk, on another major street. But this one is the scenic street, along the water. Where tourists go. Can’t have them walk on the road. We can have our kids walk on busy streets but not locust tourists. Great message you are sending there township! Safety last in our township.

This is the same township that has subsidised a golf course on public land to the tune of 3/4 of a million dollars in the last 10 years. But we cannot afford to make sidewalks so kids can be safe.
