I had fun on election night, running the tallies of national and local candidates for my work. It was some seriously good political drama the whole night, at least for this political junkie.

My good and bad list:

Harper getting a larger minority government – Good (some checks and balances are a good thing)

Stephane Dion’s performance – Bad (so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye)

The Green Party being shut out again – Good (I didn’t know that the leader was above the party)

Peter McKay beating Elizabeth May in Central Nova – Good (perhaps Dion wasn’t so stupid for not fielding a Liberal Candidate there)

Guy Lauzon winning his third term here in SD&SG – Good (Always good to have the local MP be part of the ruling party)

On Gord Brown winning again – Bad (my grandmother always said if you don’t have anythng nice to say, don’t say anything at all… )

Dalton McGuinty running for Federal Liberal Leader – BAD, BAD, BAD! (Words cannot express how bad this would be)

Frank McKenna running for Federal Liberal Leader – Good… I guess

Bob Rae and Michael Ignatief running… – Bad (Bob Rae would basically kill the Liberal brand in Ontario while Ignatief would erase that border between the US and Canada.)

Another federal election in the next 18 to 24 months… – let my silence be deafening…
