Erika Jordan placed 57th out of 284 runners in the 2016 OFSAA Cross-Country championships held November 5th at Trinity College School in Port Hope.

n Jordan finished the midget girls 3.1 kilometre race in 13 minutes 3 seconds.

n The event saw athletes from secondary schools across the province compete in the weekend event.

n “It was a difficult race,” said Jordan in an interview with The Leader after returning from the event.

n “It was a really good experience.”
n
n Jordan placed third in individual results at the October 27th EOSSAA championships in Kemptville which qualified her for OFSSA.
n
n “We’re quite pleased with how she did,” said Henry Looyen, who coached the cross-country team at Seaway District High School along with Tracey Henderson.
n
n “The course was difficult including a steep hill in the last kilometre,” Looyen said.
n
n “Individual racers were started at the line behind the teams, but she quickly pushed her way up in the group after it started.”
n
n Jordan has been running cross-country since joining the Grade 7 cross-country team at Seaway Intermediate two years ago.
n
n In addition to cross-country, Jordan competes in track and field and will be trying out for the secondary school’s team in the spring. Outside of school she is a member of the Morrisburg and District Skating Club.
n
n Haley Davis from John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute in Guelph won the division with a time of 11 minutes 49 seconds.
