South Dundas school wins 41 medals including two double-gold.

nIROQUOIS – Twenty-four students from the South Dundas Taekwondo dojang (school) competed at the 2017 Edge Color Belt Classic Taekwondo tournament held April 22nd in Almonte. They were among 19 schools competing at the tournament from Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, along with international schools from New Hampshire and Puerto Rico.nnThis is the first large tournament the school has competed in since its formation in 2015.nn“Our students from South Dundas TKD competed fairly, respectfully, honorably and with confidence,” said Master Morin, chief instructor of the school.nn“Although medals alone don’t necessarily signify one’s success, I am very pleased to have witnessed camaraderie, sportsmanship, as well as quiet confidence as our students competed successfully.”nnStudents competed in three individual competitions, Tul (patterns), Matsogi (sparring) and the Breaking Challenge.nnLanie Verhey won bronze in sparring and in the breaking challenge.nnKen Pretty won silver in patterns, bronze in sparring and gold in the breaking challenge.nnDominick Lane won gold in the breaking challenge.nnAvery Adair won bronze in sparring and silver in the breaking challenge.nnJack Croteau won silver in the breaking challenge.nnMarkus Szuky won gold in the breaking challenge.nn

nnGabriel Lane won bronze in patterns and gold in the breaking challenge.nnMorghan McCormick won double gold medals, one in sparring and one in the breaking challenge. She also won bronze in patterns.nnJames Szuky won silver in patterns and in the breaking challenge, along with bronze in sparring.nnConnor Pretty won silver in sparring and the breaking challenge, and bronze in patterns.nnShane Larocque won two silvers, one in sparring and one in the breaking challenge.nnTrena Grant was a double-gold medal winner, winning in patterns and sparring. She also won a silver in the breaking challenge.nnAddison Grant won bronze in each category, patterns, sparring and the breaking challenge.nnRyder Kelly won bronze in the breaking challenge.nnLuke Byvelds won the silver medal in sparring, and a bronze in the breaking challenge.nnAyden Grant was a bronze medalist in sparring.nnEmma Benoit won gold in sparring, bronze in the breaking challenge.nnTrinity Oosterhof won bronze in sparring and silver in the breaking challenge.nnAodhan Lowson won bronze in sparring and silver in the breaking challenge.nnTristan Oosterhof was a bronze medalist in the breaking challenge.nnMichael Grant won gold in the breaking challenge.nnIn addition to the competition, Master Marin awarded a sportsmanship award to student Gavin Pergunas.
