R-O send 13 to EOSSAA track and field

OTTAWA – Competitors from Rothwell-Osnabruck Secondary continued their run in the 2017 track and field season, competing at the SDG high school county championship May 13th. The event was held at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility in Ottawa.nnBritney Barkley finished fourth in the midget-girls triple jump with a 7.16 metre jump, qualifying for EOSSAA.nnElaina Read and Alana Coderre finished second and fourth in the midget-girls discus event: Read with a 19.04 metre throw; Coderre with a 18.67 metre throw.nnThe Lancers landed a one-two-three finish in the junior-girls discus event with Regan McRae’s 20.2 metre throw winning the event. Danike Zummach was second, and Jessica Barkley third.nnEryn Morgan and Cassandrea Hric finished second and third respectively in the senior-girls discus event. Lindsay Creskey finished fifth, missing a chance to move on to EOSSAA.nnCamden Donnelly finished third in the midget-boys javelin earning a spot in EOSSAA.nnAustin Pfotenhauer barely missed qualifying for EOSSAA in the junior-boys 800 metre event. In the junior-boys long jump event, Liam Blais’ 5.34 metre jump earned him first place in the nine-competitor field. While in the junior-boys discus event, Alexander Dingwall’s 29.81 metre throw won the event. Connor Hutchinson was fifth and Pfotenhauer was seventh, both missing EOSSAA.nnBlais’ 37.80 metre throw in junior-boys javelin earned him third in the field.nnIn the senior-boys discus event, Anthony Carello finished in fourth place for the Lancers with a 29.02 metre throw. He did not qualify for EOSSAA in the long jump event finishing ninth.nnTyler Murray was second in the senior-boys shot put with a 9.17 metre throw. Murray went on to place sixth in the discus and seventh in the javelin events.nnThe EOSSAA track and field championships will be held at Thousand Islands Secondary School in Brockville May 14-15th.
