nnMORRISBURG – Three of the five current members of South Dundas council are now officially running for re-election.nnJust before 9 a.m. today (Friday), councillor Marc St. Pierre filed his papers making his bid for the mayor’s chair official. He challenges incumbent mayor Evonne Delegarde, who filed her papers yesterday (June 21st).nnCouncillor Bill Ewing announced his intentions at the start of the year to run for deputy mayor, which he filed his papers with municipal clerk Brenda Brunt on May 1st, opening day of the nominations.nnLast Friday, Kirsten Gardner also filed her nomination papers, challenging Ewing for the deputy mayor position.nnUp until today (June 22nd) councillor Archie Mellan had not declared his intentions for the upcoming term. Mellan told The Leader this afternoon that he will be filing his nomination papers next week for the position of councillor. He has served on council for two terms, being first elected in 2010.nnDeputy mayor Jim Locke announced earlier that he was not going to run for another term.nnAt publication time, there is now only one candidate running for the three available councillor position.nnNominations close in five weeks on July 27th.
