Trustee candidates address South Dundas voters

DIXON’S CORNERS – Over 200 people attended the October 3rd all candidates meeting held at Matilda Hall. The event was organized by the South Dundas Chamber of Commerce. All candidates for South Dundas council elections were invited, as were candidates for two available school board trustee positions. This election year, the English-Public and English-Catholic trustee elections are contested. Trustee candidates were given two minutes to address the audience before the council candidates portion began.nnRunning for Upper Canada District School Board (English-Public) in Ward 7 – North and South Dundas – is Larry Berry. He told The Leader that he opted to attend a feedback session for school councils regarding substance abuse/misuse and self care that was held at North Dundas District High School at the same time.nn”I’ll be at the other debates,” Armer said. “Thought this was important for our kids.”nnRunning for the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (English-Catholic) Dundas and Stormont ward trustee is Donna Nielsen. The Leader contacted McAllister to ask why she did not attend, no reply has been given yet.nnThe other two school board trustee positions, French-Catholic and French-Public, were acclaimed. Jonathan DeSerres was acclaimed as the French-Catholic trustee, Lise Benoit-Leger was acclaimed as French-Public trustee.nnCitizens will vote for their school board trustees during the October 22nd municipal election.
