Sr. Pioneers beat Red Sox 10-3

nnWILLIAMSBURG – A pair of four run innings set the Williamsburg Sr. Pioneers on their way to a 10-3 win over the visiting South Ottawa Red Sox at J.C. Whitteker Park June 17th.nnNolan Henry set the pace for the Pioneers at the top of the batting order, sending a double deep into right field. Ben Lapier followed with his own double deep into left field, earning his first of two RBI’s for the night. Singles from Collin VanHoof and Ethan Cummins gave the home team a 4-0 lead after the first inning.nnThe Pioneers added four more runs in the bottom of the third inning and held an 8-1 lead going into the fourth inning. The Red Sox picked up two runs in the top of the fourth inning.nnEmytt Fetterly’s double in the bottom of the six set up two RBI’s by Brendan Shaver, giving the Pioneers the 10-3 win.nnOn the pitcher’s mound, Lapier led off the Pioneers’ bullpen, striking out three batters and allowing two hits over one and a half innings. Collin VanHoof had six strikeouts and allowed one run.nnWilliamsburg’s infield made short work of South Ottawa in the final two innings, picking off six runners in six at-bats over two innings off relief pitcher Fetterly.nnUp next: Williamsburg play the West Ottawa Mets June 19th.
