(The Leader/Blancher photo)nnCARDINAL – The South Grenville Rangers continued their tear up the National Capital Junior Hockey League standings with a resounding 9-1 over the Clarence Castors October 5th.nThe Rangers entered the weekend the only undefeated team remaining in the league. They hosted a diminished Castors team that suited up only 10 players plus call-up goalie Braden Penberthy.nnMatthew Berry started the Rangers off on the scoreboard just over a minute into the game (from Jacob Servage and Zack Pilon). Cole Edgely (from Mathieu Giroux and Cameron Dillon) made it 2-0 on a Rangers power play. Braydan Forestell notched his first of the night (unassisted) late in the period. South Grenville led Clarence 3-0 after 20 minutes.nnCastors’ forward Kyle Goodman cut the Rangers’ lead, scoring a power play goal midway through the second period, finding his way past goalie Sam Limoges-Ring. Rangers led 3-1.nBrody Ranger (from Edgely) and Berry (from Cooper Kingston and Servage) made it a 5-1 game late in the period.nnSouth Grenville went on to score four goals in the third period (Ranger, Jordan Poulin, Dylan Sharpley, Forestell) to win the game 9-1.nnThe Rangers were one-for-10 on the power play and successfully killed off eight-of-nine penalties.nnLimoges-Ring improved to a 3-0 record between the pipes for South Grenville, with a 1.33 goals-against-average, third best in the league. The Rangers lead the NCJHL West Division with a 4-0 record.nnSouth Grenville has one game on tap this coming weekend. They travel to Vankleek Hill to take on the Cougars October 12th. The Cougars are 4-1 this season and lead the NCJHL East Division.nn
