League leading Rangers split weekend

nnCARDINAL – The South Grenville Rangers had a mixed weekend, facing off against a pair of teams eager for wins. The Rangers defeated the West Carleton Inferno on November 16th in Cardinal 6-4, but lost a 4-2 decision to the Clarence Castors on November 17th.nnThe Inferno burned the Rangers with an opening salvo scoring less than two minutes into the game. Hayden Sayeau returned the favour for the Rangers two minutes later, tying the game at 1-1.nnThe Rangers pulled ahead in the second period, scoring three goals including a buzzer-beater with 0.1 seconds left on the clock. First Jacob Servage scored 11 minutes into the period, followed by Brayden Forestell, then Cooper Kingston’s buzzer beater.nnSouth Grenville added two goals in the third period while the Inferno rallied, scoring three including a shorthanded goal with under two minutes remaining. Rangers won 6-4.nnThe team visited the Clarence Castors the following day, and found themselves down 3-0 after the first period.nnThe Rangers outscored the Castors in the second period 2-1. Forestell (from Cameron Dillon) scored first for the Rangers, followed by Matthew O’Brien late in the period. The Rangers trailed the Castors 4-2 after 40 minutes.nnThe Castors defence shut down the Rangers scoring attempts, resulting in South Grenville’s second loss of the season.nnThe Rangers lead the NCJHL west division by nine points over the North Dundas Rockets, and hold a two-point lead in the overall overall NCJHL standings with 24 points.nnThe team hosts the Rockets November 22nd at the Ingredion Centre and visit the Morrisburg Lions on the 23rd at the Morrisburg Arena.
