Water by force

One of the most interesting objects to photograph is water in motion. Most of the time we photograph boats, ships, or people using the force of water to move. In this areas it is rare to get a glimpse of water being moved by force – in this case it is a strong wind across Lake St. Lawrence that had the water dancing as it crashed against the shoreline. The camera froze the water in the air in a permanent memory of suspended animation. Photographing in black and white highlights the contrast of what would normally be a contrast-less mundane early-spring afternoon. Blues and browns share a palette of greys, and highlight the star of the show – water. (Taken April 24, 2022, Lake St. Lawrence shoreline – Morrisburg, ON)
