The kid and I went out to the local railfan spot on the CN Kingston Subdivision (Morrisburg – Mile 92.9) at lunchtime to see what we could find. It was a good opportunity for us to go over some camera techniques while we waited for some trains to appear. He will likely post his photos online later from his Nikon. These are from mine.
We waited about 20 minutes before this eastbound VIA Train sped through.
P42DC 916, six HEP-2 cars, and F40PH2 #6417.
The eastbound signal switched to yellow instead of read, an indication that another train was on its way on the same track. But before that one arrived, this westbound VIA arrived.
F40PH2 #6414 and seven LRC coaches. I still miss the LRC locomotives, two on each end with 10 LRC coaches in the middle.
Only a few minutes after the second VIA train, the eastbound CN freight appeared on the horizon.
ES44AC #2978 on point, with ex-leaser ES44AC #2766 as a mid-train DPU.
So in less than an hour, three trains photographed. That is a good ROI for a Sunday afternoon.
