Big win adds to near perfect season

Peewee C Lions beat North Dundas 9-1, sits on top of league standings.

nMORRISBURG – The South Dundas Lions Peewee C House team continued their dominance of the league, defeating the North Dundas Demons 9-1 January 29th at the Morrisburg arena.nnThe Lions lept on to the scoreboard halfway into the first period on a play from Ethan Keeler to Zack Scarbeau, who put it past Demons goalie Nadia Mclean, 1-0 Lions.nnDemons forward Wyatt Watson tied the game with 5:39 left in the first period, a tie that lasted just over a minute. Raymond Froats broke the tie for the Lions, givin them a 2-1 lead. Maeryn Gilmour took a pass from Froats with 1:10 left in the first and planted in the Demons’ goal, Lions led 3-1 at the end of the first.nnScarbeau scored his second of the game with 12:07 left in the second, Manraj Cheema assisted.  Lions continued to lead 4-1 at the end of the second.nnA flurry of goals in the third period by the Lions hammered home the win.nnOwen Patterson started off with a goal early in the third, Brady Barrie had the assist. James Martens scored off a pass from Froats to make it 6-1 Lions.nnScarbeau completed his hat-trick midway through the third off a pass from Keeler to give the team a 7-1 lead. Patterson and Barrie teamed up for two more goals, with 10:52 and 2:02 left in the game, Patterson completing his hat trick.nnThe 9-1 win over the Demons puts the team at 44 points with a record of 22 wins, 1 loss for the season.nnThe team sits 15 points ahead of second place Brockville 2 Braves for the east division, and  10 points ahead of South Grenville 1 Rangers overall in the league.nnThe team travels to their last regular season stand against the Smiths Falls 1 Bears team on February 7th.
